Hi everyone,
Last night coming home from my commute, I stopped at my local gas station to fill up for the next days ride. It's been hot out here in California the last couple of days. Anyway, I gas up and turn my key on to leave and all of a sudden, the power goes out (before I even hit the starter). I turn the key off and on again and everything comes back on like nothing ever happened. It starts fine. I then ride the couple of blocks to my house and when I shut the engine off, I hear this fairly high pitch whine. Kind of like everything is still turning inside the engine except it's not firing the plug. I could even hear the cam chain still turning. It lasted about 3-4 seconds. Almost sounded like shutting down a compressor or something. I started it up again and she started ok and ran it into the garage to park it for the night, shut it down again and everything was fine. No weird sounds. It started fine this morning and ran all the way to work ok. I'm leaving work tonight for a weekend trip up the california coast. I hope it makes it ok. Anyone have any ideas on this? Many of you might know that my bike has a lot of miles on it, (37,000+). I ride it every day 124 miles a day. I always check the oil before I ride, change it every 2500 faithfully and use synthetic. I've never had any major problems and am not sure I have a problem yet. We'll see how it goes. I'll post a trip report next week when I get back. Everyone ride safe.
